Maryland to get $1.1 million from Olympus Corp. in federal kickback settlement

Olympus Corp. of the Americas has agreed to pay $1.1 million to Maryland as part of a multi-state settlement with the federal government over an alleged illegal kickback scheme. Olympus will pay a total of $306 million to settle a civil lawsuit that alleged Olympus and its subsidiaries got doctors and hospital executives to buy endoscopes and surgical equipment by offering improper financial incentives.
