Johns Hopkins, BGE headline $69 million local hiring and spending effort

A group of 25 major Baltimore companies, employers and organizations announced a new effort Monday to pump millions into Baltimore’s neglected communities through local hiring, building and buying. The initiative, which comes nearly a year after unrest shook the city and will be called BLocal, targets spending on design and construction contracts with local businesses, minority-owned businesses, and women-owned businesses.
